Abstract

Lower urinary tract obstruction is defined by residual urine in the bladder after micturition or in more extreme forms by urinary retention with inability to empty the bladder at all. It presents with symptoms like frequency, noctu-ria, poor stream, hesitancy, terminal dribbling, incomplete evacuation, burn-ing sensation and weak flow. In Ayurveda this is dealt under mutraghata vika-ras and the symptoms satisfy more with vatavasthi. Avapeedaka snehapana comes under samana snehapana and is classically suggested in uthama mat-ra. In this case study, a patient with symptoms of lower urinary tract obstruc-tion is treated by method of avapeedaka snehapana with vasthyamayantha-ka ghritham for a total of ten days. After completion of treatment, significant relief of signs and symptoms were observed.
